This week’s question is:

“I have uneven skin tone and starting to see wrinkles. What ingredient should I look for when trying to increase skin’s elasticity and address hyperpigmentation?"

Jacq’s skin expert’s answer:

Notably, the ingredient that will address both hyperpigmentation and early signs of aging is niacinamide. Also, known as Vitamin B3, it's great for multiple reasons. While it is primarily known for regulating sebum production and reducing oiliness without drying out the skin, it’s an ideal ingredient if you are looking to erase the scars of breakouts, brightening the skin and increasing skin's elasticity and firmness.

When addressing hyperpigmentation, niacinamide works by blocking the transfer of pigment at a cellular level and effectively decreases the amount of melanin transferred to a concentrated area. It works to decrease melanin production when you are exposed to sun, i.e. preventing and increasing dark marks from worsening and new ones from forming.

For those who are oily and acne-prone, I’d suggest incorporating this ingredient in your skincare routine to help with preventing discoloration and repairing the scars of breakouts.

Here are the benefits:

  1. Strengthens The Skin Barrier

  2. Combats Hyperpigmentation⠀

  3. Promotes Clear Skin

  4. Increases Elasticity and Firmness

  5. Reduces Redness and Rosacea⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Vitamin B can be applied topically, ingested and you can even get a shoot of Vitamin B. Vitamin B is a key ingredient when it comes to maintaining and improving your skin health. It especially works really well in brightening, conditioning, and treating issues like dermatitis, eczema and dryness.

One of our favorite vitamin B-rich product is the Balancing Face Serum infused with beta-carotene to help combar hyperpigmentation. It also features vitamin B5 to seriously hydrate and nourish the skin. It also contains rose geranium a delicious ingredient in skin care that helps soothe inflamed, tired, and sensitive skin.
