It's official...summer time is in full swing! These days can get very hot and weigh down on you. Whether you are going to the beach or poolside, remember to keep yourself hydrated. If you are feeling a little dry, beat that summer heat, sip your nutrition down in style while keeping hydrated and nourished with these 3 delicious skin worthy smoothies.
Boil the beets for 20 to 30 minutes and then transfer the beets into a bowl full of cool water. Let it sit for 15 minutes, and then peel off the skin. Next, you can cut the beets into pieces however you like and freeze them or use them right away. If you don’t like pulp or pieces of food in your smoothie I suggest freezing the beets for 24 hours and come back. After cutting the beets, put them into a blender and add your mixture of frozen berries and avocado to the mix. Next, pour the coconut milk. Feel free to squeeze a fresh lime in the smoothie to give it a fresh taste.
Beets contain carotenoids and high amount of folate that helps stimulate the production of cells which helps protects against premature aging. It also is a very good source of iron and manganese. But, it helps fight inflammation, lower blood pressure and are very good for digestive health.
Coconut Milk: this miracle liquid is a great source of Vitamin C that helps maintain elasticity and prevents wrinkles. It's also very good at soothing and restoring moisture in dry skin.
Avocado: healthy fats, an excellent source of biotin and vitamin E, which contribute to cell regeneration and helps protect skin from free radical damage. Help boosts skin's luminosity, supple and skin texture.
Flaxseed Powder: Rich in omega 3 and antioxidants it helps minimizes fine lines and wrinkles. It also helps with breakouts and combating inflammation and keep the skin moisturized.
Peel, chop and boil the sweet potato for 30-40 minutes until soft. Next, let the sweet potato cool off for an hour or so and put it in the blender. Then, add the banana, cinnamon, vanilla, and nutmeg to the mix. Maca powder is a super root used by Mayan for centuries. It'll give it a chocolate taste, but that is optional. Add 2 cups of rice milk and blend until creamy consistency.
Sweet Potatoes: are an excellent source of beta-carotene, vitamin A and vitamin C. which are very good for the immune system. They also are high in potassium which is great for relaxing muscles especially if your pregnant and experiencing any muscle spasms or tightness. Excellent source of antioxidants.
Maca powder: a nutrient root ground to powder known to help balance hormones and increase energy. It is also known to aid in treating acne and the vitamin c it contains helps increase collagen and fight free radicals known to cause inflammation.
Banana: its well-known potassium nutrient nourishes and moisturizes dry skin. The vitamin E it contains is a shield against UV rays and helps slow down signs of aging. Its amino acids work well in strengthening skin tissue and Lectin destroys acne-causing bacteria.
Rice Milk: is your best friend in controlling hormonal imbalances. Great for removing blemishes and restoring skin tone with its gentle whitening effect. This ingredient is great for hype-pigmentation skin type.
Add the banana and avocado to the blender. Next, add fresh or frozen blueberries. Lastly, add a teaspoon of chia seeds and 1 cup of coconut milk depending on how thick you want your smoothie, feel free to add more or less. This is such an easy smoothie you don’t have to cut anything, and you can literally mix everything together and viola!
Blueberries: this antioxidant fruit works wonders on the skin providing it with the cell regenerating boost and glow it needs after being exposed to UV rays. Consume these regularly for youthful and brighter skin!
Walnut Milk: consuming walnuts alone give the body a great dose of vitamin B which boosts your skin health and combats signs of aging. The fatty acids it contains also serve as an anti-inflammatory agent.
Chia seeds: this antioxidant-rich ingredient is also a great anti-inflammatory that calms and soothes acne blemishes. Not only does it sooth but it protects the outer layer of skin from bacteria.
Apple: The vitamin C in apples helps build collagen and its levels of copper encourage production of Melanin. It also prevents cell and tissue damage.
