14 Ways to Slay Your Morning Routine

Starting your day off on the right foot can make a huge difference in the day. We're talking the benefits of mindful mornings. If you are lacking energy, feeling overwhelmed and lacking focus, waking up early and implementing a morning routine will help with your productivity, staying energized and leave you feeling grounded.

Many successful individuals including Maya Angelou, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Ben Franklin are among the many famously successful and productive individuals that are known to have slain their morning routines.

For example, Maya Angelou was said to wake at 5:30a, have coffee at 6:00a, and work until 2:00p every day at her private hotel room. If you are already thinking of excuses why this won't work for you, I'm already ahead of you. Here are some common excuses that come to mind.

  • I can't-do this because I have too much going on.
  • I'm not a morning person.
  • I'm just not that disciplined.
  • My favorite shows come on really late.

1. Plan Ahead

Being intentional with your time and creating a consistent routine will have you start the day stress-free, efficient and productive. Be proactive with your time and reap the benefits of planning ahead! Using an old school system like a paper calendar or apps like Evernote and Google calendar to plan your day, week and month ahead. 

2. Wake up early

Waking up early not only gives you more time in the day but it helps improve memory and productivity. According to a study, early risers help diminish the negative effects of sleep inertia and can help you stay attentive and alert throughout the day. 

3. Affirmations

Stretching first thing in the morning helps improve circulation, joint flexibility and helps relieve stress.
